From Registry menu, select Exit. That’s usually the most reliable way to connect an optical drive. Tried other DVD’s commercial and previously burnt. New Folder I Drive will play both but sound and video are choppy. I am still looking for a solulution where there are no upper or lower limits to delete.
I had the same problem and the registry edit at the bottom of this thread is the only thing that seems to work. HP will tell you that I am completely out of warranty as well as extended service plan upgrades. After following all HP tech support guidelines and actually doing a destructive restore including a follow up with the recovery discs created in cdd opening month of install, I have got NOTHING!

Did you complete the troubleshooter for the drive that still does not work? I just had to suck it up and reinstall windows. Siting that “Windows should detect and install the correct drivers after uninstalling the drive.
One step I would add to your trick, is to take a pick pof teh registry a before and after. Community Forum Software by IP. Please log in to reply.

CD/DVD-ROM Device Not Burning
Had the problem with the TSST drive not showing up. On the first occasion I restored my system to an earlier date and git it back. Everything went fine until I went to step 8.
Have burned dvd’s and cd’s. DO look up how many people all claimed the same problems which even on the HP site forums is ignored and never addressed. How satisfied are you with this reply? I check back with the results. HailDarkLordGs 16, How satisfied are you with this response? So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 cx to not function while the others do so properly.
