The only disadvantage with my label printer is that you can’t buy rugged plastic labels for it. Next you need to go to the Synaptic Package Manager and install some headers and libraries. It is assumed, that the printer has power and is connected to the Linux machine via USB cable. So just be careful, if you’re not near this thing and you print a test page the default way like say a network print server , I can picture a floor full of wasted labels. The LabelWriter Turbo also prints on Linux. OpenOffice offers a selection of preconfigured formats for users who need to print their own self-adhesive labels. I am still getting to know Linux and don’t feel that I’m qualified to lead someone down the command line path.

The -d parameter specifies the name of the new default printer. The LabelWriter Turbo also prints on Linux. The CUPS printing system  uses the lpr command for this:. I am still getting to know Linux and don’t feel that I’m qualified to lead someone down the command line path.
Ubuntu detects the label printer and serves up the label size configuration options. If everything works fine, your printer should now print a label containing the dummy text.

Unfortunately, this seems not to be part of the installation package. I am interested in programmatically printing labels generated in a Linux environment. Seems it internally sets the pagesize to A4? However, it bugs me that every time I print a label the device wastes raw material Figure 2which I have to buy in the form of fairly expensive cartridges.
